WAVEELEY- WAITOTARA ANNUAL MEETING. Splendid weather favoured the Waver-ley-Waitoturu Club for the animal race nu!et'i!g held on the Waverloy course yesterday. A strong wind swept tlie ground and dried the course up nicely, and the going, which was at first a triiie holding. Improved as the afternoon wore on. The attendance was very large, north and south trains bringing great crowds, while the number of motor cars on tin. course was a speaking testimony to the prosperity of the districts on this coast. The racing was good all round, though the favorites had a 6ad time of it. Serjt. Patterson acted as stipendiary steward, but had an easy day of it. Mr. T. Cameron's starting was good in the majority of instances.- The Wansanui Harrison Band supplied the music, which was much enjoyed. Speculation wa's very brisk throughout the day, and the totalisator stall' handled the money expeditiously. This year's | figures totalled .£23,100, an increase of. £4777 on last year's figures. The field moved off in perfect line, and Interlude took up the running from Aftor. Gayeium and a bunched lot With half the distance covered the same horses, were in front, with Lord Lupin tailing off. Gayeium was being hard ridden at the bend, and Astor was also holding out signals of distress.
