SHEERNESS BOMBED.
RAIDER BROUGHT DOWN. London, October 22. An aeroplane dropped three bombs in Shcerness Harbor, and one oil the railway station, damaging some carriages. It was driven oil', and 110 casualties are reported. The Admiralty announces' that naval gunfire brought down a German seaplane, believed to be the Sheerness raider. AWAY WITH MILDNESS! London, October 22. The Rev. A. Cough, vicar of Brompton, in a speech on Tower Hill, said: "There was no mildness in Kelson. There is nothing Christian in mere softness. England Ims been nearly damned by its mildness, but England and the Empire is being saved because she is getting rla of the mildness." REPRISALS ON PRISONERS URGED. n » London, October 22. Mr. Thomas Curtin. in ah article in the Daily Mail, considers that England' is mistaken in indulging the German soldier prisoners while the English are being maltreated. The English are slowly ageing amid harsh, surroundings, weary privation and hardships, while the Germans in England are beautifully fed and cared for. The British sjiould publish the facts of the ill-treatment of her soldiers, as publicity and big shells/ are the only arguments to affect the Prussians.
