WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). AVaitara is not gifted with many special attractions, but on Thursday' night we had two, in the shape of the Knox Church anniversary big'h tea and concert, and Barton Bros.' circus. The population was split up comfortably between the two.
The Rev. Moderator Culliford opened the proceedings of the Knox Church entertainment, and luring his lemarks read an apology for absence from the Mayor. The "high tea" went off in the usual splendid style, and everybody appeared to be enjoying themselves. The concert part of the programme was opened by a pianoforte, solo by Mrs. Percy Allen, . followed with songs by Mrs. Blair, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. MacDoiinld, Mrs. Whcatlcy, Rev. IHnton and Connie White. Recitations were given by Miss Bullot, Stan. Tate and the Rev. Ilinton, the last-named securing great applause in reciting "The Day." Addresses were given by Mr. Ireland, of Inglcwood, and Rev. fiinton. Barton Bros.' circus experienced great difficulty in reaching Waitara,: through tlie roads being sc bad over Mt. Messenger. They arrived on Thursday aftti'v noon and gave a very good show at night, and again on Friday,
