Qiiinologist, winner of the Metropolitan Handicap, is an English bred horse that was reckoned good enough to measure strides with Pommern in the Old Hart, and now most people are wondering how he managed to get into the big handicap at 331bs. under weight-for-age. Handicapping is a strange art: A contemporary says that it is strange that the placed horses on the first day at Dunedin were first, second, and third favorites respectively in each race, and finished in their order of favoritism. That would be more than "strange" if it were true, but unfortunately it is a blanky fabrication. Mr. J. B. Keid informed a southern scribe that the price paid for Kilboy was 5000 guineas. The new owners got it back first start.
