Yalentine) have.been wounded in Franc*. Mr. O'Dowd, of Kapuni, has received a cable message from his son, Lieutenant P. Collis, of New Plymouth,, last night received the sad news that hia youngest son, Rifleman Douglas Collis,' who has previously been reported, wounded, was killed in action in Franco > on September 15. Rifleman Collis, who> was 25 years of age, enlisted for the. 7th Reinforcements, but when he reached ■ camp he was attached to the, Quarter-' master Sergeant's staff, and he remained in camp for six months before ha eventually got away Vith the 11 the. Rifleman A. E. Coburn, wounded, is l! brother of Mr. H. A. Cobum, South Road. Another brother, Sergeant H; O. Coburn. is also at the front. Qne nephew has been filled and (another wounded. Cabled advices received this week record the death of the well-known horiemnn. f)eo. A! Pine, who went away with the Bth Reinforcements. A late casualty list includes among the killed the name of Private Charles Win. H. Bould, of Johnsonville. In ths early volunteering days, Private Bould was a sergeant in the Wellington Guard*. He enlisted for active service, in 1 SOD, and left New Zealand for South '* Africa with the First Contingent. He had war decorations for Kimberley. Vaardeberg, Driefontein, and Diamond Hill. At the conclusion of the South African trouhje he returned to Hew Zealand, but enlisted again when the first call was made in August, 1914, andj/went to Samoa. On his return lie volunteered for active service abroad.

Second-Lieutenant F. Russell Baker reported wounded on October 1, and suffering from shell shock, is the elder son of the late Rev. T. F. Baker, vicar of Waitara. He was born at Waitara, and educated at the New Plymouth' High School. At the time of his enlistment he was stationed at Hamilton, as inspector for the New Zealand Insurance , Company in the Waikato district. He went into camp ns n non-com. in the Ninth Reinforcements, and on being granted a commission was appointed to - A Company of the 12th Reinforcements. His brother, Sehvyn, was wounded twice at Oallipoli, but is now with the troops in France. •
