One of the best entertainments over held in Tariki took place last Thursday evening, when Privates Kilsby, jlavidson and Fyiser were farewelled Every item was well received, especially those given l)y Mesdames Arthur, Batomart, Petherbridge and Mr. Kiley. Mrs. Petherbridge lias evidently been keeping in the dark, and we will all look forward to her reappearance. At the conclusion of the concert, the usual presentation from the Patriotic Society and Ladies' League took place. Private Kilsby also received a presentation from the St. iPhilip's Church. Supper <vas then harfded round, and afterwards dancing was indulged in. Mrs. Arthur, of Hihitahi, played for the dance, and her services were greatly appreciated. In last Tuesday's X«ws a letter ?igned by ''Tine who is proud of Tank'" appeared and complained of my criticism re conduct at concerts. Well, I hope he attended last Thursday's entertainment, for he would certainly have noticed a decided improvement and seen tlmt my few' remarks had some eflect. Pn'iuipI have attended as many or even more country than my friend, and if every concert is conducted as well as last' Thursday's I would compare them favorably with any country councerts I have attended.

I regret to report that Corporal Swanson and Privates C. Thompson and J. Egarr have been wounded. We all hope' to hear of their speedy recovery. Privates KiKiby, Davidson and Frascr returned to camp 011 .Monday 11101 ning and received a. rousing send-oiT. They carry Tariki's best wishes, (iod speed and a safe return. By the same tram Messrs Wadding and "Ted" Kendnek left for Trcntham to join the 22nd Reinforcements. Arrangements for a daily mail ?ervice between"Taril;i and Jiatapiko are near completion, and will be a. great tage. to the settlers. The voung ladies intend holding a, dance in aid of the Xavy Fund, and it is hoped that the tickets will sell frec-ly for this worthy object.
