«o - £2OOO TO BE PAID TARANAKI. A conference was helo. in Wangar.ui last week between representatives of the Wanganni and Taranaki Boards for the adjustment of finance with regard to that portion of the district taken over by Taranaki from Wanganni. Those present were:—Taranaki Board: Messrs Masters (chairman), Wilkinson, M.P., .J E. Dixon; Wanganni: Messrs Fred Pirani (chairman), P. Hemingway, also Messrs Swanger and Whitcombe (Board sc.-i'otni'io). The main question was the amount'to be paid ovei by the Wanganui Board for the reinstatemeifct of old school buildings, and for jvhich a percentage of the estimated cost is paid annually to Boards. Taranaki considered that the amount thus pi i<l totalled .£41(10, but after considerable discussion a proposal of Mr. Pirnni's was agreed to under which the Wancnmii Education Board is to pay £IOOO within a year of the termination of the war, and £IOOO one year afterwards. It was agreed to leave the adjustment of technical school finances to the se.ietaries of the two Boards,- the balance being about £45 in Wanganui's favor. The conference was a cordial one, the visitors afterwards inspecting the Technical College and several of the Wanganui Primary Schools.
