MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 P.M.
' Rarely has greater acting been seen on the screen than is shown by Henry Kolker as the "drunkard" in the impressive and remarkable film "The Warning," which was screened at the Empire last evening. An excellent cast support him, especially worthy of mention heing the boy who portrays the son, and Miss Lily Leslie as the mother. The story is not overdone; it is gripping in iia intensity, but always human and conv'iu-'ng. Henry Koiker, the star actor gives a powerful rendering of the part of the -"good fellow," whose besetting sin is the drink habit. Always com ! ncing, the actor conveys with remarkable ability, the various steps on the downward path, and is at his best in the startling vision of heaven and hell, that forms such a unique climax to a fine pi.tnre. The "Gaumont Graphic" and "The New Janitor," are also shown on tli',> programme, which will be screened again this afternoon at the matinee and for the last occasion at the night performance. COMING MONDAY AND TUESDAY. "The Green Swamp" heads the programme to be introduced next Monday and Tuesday. It is a powerful story of society life, and the subject is treated in an artistic manner. The principals, Miss Bessie Barriseale and Mr. Bruce Meßae, have ample seope for their dramatic powers, and succeed in presenting] a well-constructed and convincing story. It tells how the wild, unreasoning jealousy of a wife results in a misunderstarding with her husband, a doctor. How she undergoes great mental anguish and sorrow before winning true happiness, is dramatically developed
