PRICE OF BUTTER.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER By 1 eiegraph—Pre3S Association, Wellington, Last Night. 1 : Han. W. D. S. McDonald, president of the Board of Trade, made the following statement to-night covering ther gazetted regulations governing the pricg of biittir:— The principle underlying the scheme!, was that those factories supplying tha local market at e price fixed would be compensated for the difference between the fixea local price and the export* pri?e, from a fund to be raised, by the issue of export licenses to both buttw 1 and cheese factories. Only those butter and cheese factories that take out «X« port licenses will be allowed to export.The fee for an export license will bs fi-ved from time to time by the Boardi of Trade, on the basis of butter-fat en« tering. The factory contribution fixed by today's Order in Council is :]d per lb* of buttu-fat, and the price at the factory for I,utter is 139s 4d per cwt., or Is 44 per lb. A<l ministration of the scheme has been placed in the hands of Mr. Trigge, who has handled the Imperial meat supply scheme. Factories will be supplied withi the necessary forms on which to znoJto appii. nficn for a license to export, it. is hoped .that the committee ap» pointnd by the recent conference of dairymen will be available to assist tha Board of Trade with advice in carrying out the scheme, and in helping to re* move any difficulties that may arise.
