ROYAL LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.
MEETING OF TARANAKI CENTRE. The monthly meeting of the executive of the North Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society was held in the Soldiers' Club rooms last evening. Mr. D. J. Hughes (president) occupied the chair. No action was taken in reference to procuring a typewriter for use of the secretary, but hope was expressed that some pliilantrophie person would aid the Society in this matter. Mr. Flannagan reported on the condition of sheds, reels, and other equipment at the East and West End shores. Some repairs are necessary, and a subcommittee was appointed to deal with same. Drs. Wade and Blaekley wi'ote accepting the positions of honorary medical officers to the Society. The secretary of the Marco (Kohuratalii) School Committee, notified thai at present the school could not join the Society, but would probably do so at a later date. The Secretary forwarded a statement showing that the membership was now 97, of whom 75 had paid up. Cash in hand was £l4 10s, aiid there were a few small liabilities. A cheque for £0 7s 7d, the balance in hand of the New Plymouth Surf Club, which has merged into the Society, was received with thanks. Mr. B. S. Knox, captain of the New Brighton Surf Club, was appointed the Centre'.? representative on the Dominion Executive. It was agreed that the East End and Ngamotu Seaside Committees be written to and asked to assist the Life-Saving Centre by taking steps to protect all life saving property at their respective : ends. . The question of "Club colors" was left to a sub-committee, consisting of Misses White, Mclsaacs, Messrs. Schwartz, Christiansen, and Stohr, with power to act.
