S.P.C.A.

MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING. At a meeting of the Committe, held last evening, there were present, Mrs. Colvile, Misses Curtis and Douglas, Messrs Paton, Sandford, Lash, and R. C. Hughes (hon. secretary). The treasurer produced a list of subscribers since the annual meeting, 40 in number. The Inspector reported that no cases of cruelty had come under his observation during the month. With a view of interesting children in the work of the Society, and to the forming of a Junior branch, it was agreed that head-teachers of the schools in New Plymouth be asked to attend the next meeting and discuss the subject. As some of the committee cannot conveniently attend the monthly meetings on a Tuesday, it was agreed that the next meeting be held on the second Wednesday in November, to test the suitability of that day in the week. The treasurer reported that the bal-ance-sheet to credit was £2l tis Sd.
