I IERMAN SQUADRON MANOEUVRES. DRIVEN* FROM SWEDISH WATERS. Received Oct. a, 5.5 p.m Copenhagen, Oct. 7. A German squadron of sixty ships, including light cruisers, torpedoers, ami many armed trawlers, carried out manoeuvres in Hande Bar, off Karlsliamm. The squadron several times crossed Swedish territorial waters, but was turned back by Swedish torpedoers, ■which were .patrolling. Later the squadron steamed north, Cannonade was teard on the Swedish coast. TO CATCH FISH. %E\\. ROLE OF GERMAN FLOTILLA. (Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. Copenhagen, Oct. 7. It is believed that the German flotilla only intends tc fish. There is a great scarcity of fish in Germany. Torpedoerg are participating in the fishing. THE CAPTURED ZEPPELIN.
PRACTICALLY INTACT, DETAILS OF ARRANGEMENTS. . Reuter Service. Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 7. A visit to the Zeppelin Captured on ■ September 23 has disclosed that, barring slight external injuries, it is practically intact. Experts are studying the details.. It has four gondolas, one containing three engines of 240 horse-power, and the other gondolas one engine each, also the captain': cabin with all controls, including that far bomb-dropping, adjacent thereto being the wireless room, which is encased in cotton wool and is undamaged. An aeroplane newspaper states that -Mr. Orvilie Wright has presented his and Wilbur Wright's patent rights to the British nation. The British Government early in the war paid £15,000 on account of royalties on naval and ijiilita' .v aeroplanes. Orvilie Wright decided not to renew his patents, so that every manufacturer in the British Empire is free to use same without royalty, A GERMAN THEORY. Colonel Zablonsky, writing as to the Zeppelin riitU, explained that they are most frequent on Saturdays and Sundays, the Germans' theory being that the English indulge in week-end Holidays, S J that in general the young airmen who are entrusted with the defence of London leave their posts on Saturdays and return on Mondays. .PROPOSED ATLANTIC FLIGHT Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. Copenhagen, Oct. 7. Captain Hunsted, a Swedish aviator, proposes an Atlantic flight to Newfoundland vi- Ireland, using a giant Curtis aeroplane, which will have six motors, each of -00 horse-power, capable of flying thirty hours with three passengers.
