TOBACCO FOR OUR BOYS.

To the EdStor. Sir, —I re-ad your article in yesterday's paper with interest. I was very glad to see that there are some people who are thinking of the poor fellows in the trenches a: regards tobacco. For 1 the information of your readers, 1 would -like to give you the following particulars:—The Overseas Club, whicili was founded in London before the war by Lord Northcliffe, and of which' H.M. the King is patron, is doing a wonderful work regarding our boy 3 in th<; trenches, camps, hospitals, etc. At present they are purchasing over £2OOO worth of tobacco and cigarettes pel' week and forwarding them on as above This money is subscribed by Britons overseas. We in Eltham have a branch of -the Overseas Club and send iway to London headquarters over £3O per month, made up by meekly subscriptions jf Is. Every shilling subscribed , buys 3s worth of tobacco. Ha-velock tobacco and Wills' cigarettes to the New Zealanders and Australians, Canadian tobacco for the Canadians, and'so on, which is packed in boxes specialty made and forwarded under the direction jf the military authorities to its destination free of duty and freight. For the good work the club has done during the war they arf now allowed by the military authorities at Home to use the term "approved by the War Office'' fo anything they uraderta-kt. Besides providing tobacco, they have do nated 78 aeroplanes to the British Government, are maintaining 100 beds in Netiey Hospital, London, sending out hundreds of thousands of pamphlets to neutral countries showing tlve justice of Great Brttflinl part in the war, feeding ana clothing refugees, and many othei things too numerous to mention here. For the information of your many readers, I enclose a pamphlet entitled; "The Overseas Tlub; tvhat it is and what it stands for"; also tlhe club's monthly magazine, "Overseas," August number, and would be glad if you would allow any enquirers to read same.
