INGLEWOOD.
FTRE BRIGADE. (From Our Own Correspondent)'. The Inglewood Fire Brigade are now in new premises, and .lthough the concrete building is nothing much from an architectural point of view—a* seen from the street—it ie very commodious. It is pleasing to learn that the erection ot the building was due in a large measure to the generous assistance of the Inglewood public and farmers in the vicinity. The carnival held in 1014 proved a great success, and after tht purchase of uniforms the sum of £3OO was handed to the Borough Council towards the cost of the building. Recently the writer was shown over the premises by Captain Caldwell and Secretary W. Robb. The first portion opening to the street contains the hose reel, hose and. other fire-fighting appliances. The next room is for meeting purposes, is well-lighted, and has fire-place, etc. The walls are unadorned with trophies, but these will doubtless come along as the years go 'by. The next room is to be set aside for residential purposes, and can amply accommodate three brigadesmen. Lavatory, bath, etc., arc avail-' able in another room. The Inglewood Borough Council have been very generous \n their treatment of the brigade, and the. enthusiasm of the members has been stimulated by the interest shown by the Council. A* 'has proved the case with other fire-fighters the. brigade lias done well in the matter of representation at the front, no less than five being members of the Expeditionary Forces.

Writing of potatoos, one Householder declares that you can only buy "bog oranges'' n few pounds at a time, and ivhen these have their jackets shed and the unripe portions ramovc-d it sometimes requires strong believing powers that potatoes were once in the pot.
