TOWN CLOCK CHIMES.
To the Editor. Sir,—As a resident near the. Post Office, 1 feel it a duty to protest against stopping tlie chimes of our clock during tlifi hours of night as suggested. The chimes, I consider,, arc as much needed durmg the night (if not more so) as they are in road daylight. The expeine proposed to lie incurred to close the chimes down might with advantage iVr a more "up-to-date'' appearance of the town he donated towards the cost of keeping our railway station clock more in time with tlie sun. The latter clock is certainly correct twice in the H hour*, and has held this reputation for many months past,—l am, etc.. CITIZEN.
