NEW PLYMOUTH GOLF CLUB. LADIES' CIIA MPIONSIIIP. The final of the senior championships was played at Wawaikniho links on Thursday, when Mrs. Glenn defeated Mrs McQuade by 7 up and (i. Airs. Glenn won the honor and was one up at the third hole. She won the next four holes but lost the Bth. The 9tii was halved in seven, leaving Mrs. Glenn four up at the turn. At the lOtb, Mrs. McQuade had the honor and played a pretty shot, which was just too short and rolled down the hill. She was on the green in two, but failed with her putts. Mrs. Glenn was just through to the right on in two and holed out in four. Five up. The lltli and 12th were won by Mrs. Glenn in two nocely played fours, Mrs. McQuade being one more in each case, and thus the match ended seven up and G, and the championship of 1010 went to Mrs. Glenn. Hie entrance fees for the championship of llIKi amount to 25=, and this sum is to be given to the Tobacco Fund for Taranaki Soldiers. In connection with the championship, an eclectic match for prizes presented by Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Johns has been played, with the following results: Seniors.—Miss Brewster 87, Miss F. I'utt SO, Mrs. .Johns OK, Miss L. Thornson 101, Mrs. McQuade 102, Mrs. Walker 103. Juniors.—Miss K. Free !)4, Mrs. BirchJohnston 1)0, Miss Rollo 103. The Hawera. ladies' championships have now concluded, Mrs. French being the winner, beating Mrs. McLean by one up in the final. In the scmi-fiinal, Mra. McLean beat Mi« Wilson and Mrs. French beat Miss Burgess. The latter game was not decided until the 7th green was reached after some interesting play. During the game, Miss Burgess save a fine display of driving. She struck form after the first three holes, and retained it consistently throughout. At the 17th green she had the opportunity of carrying the game to the last grei \ hut unfortunately missed it. The players were nil square at the eleventh hole, and then Mrs. French by good play se-ured a lead, and at the Kith was dorniie two and then dormie one. The fate of the game hung on Mrs. McLean's drive at the 18th tee. Unfortunately she drove out of bounds here, vet with the extra stroke added she halved the hole in five. She thus narrowly missed bringing the game all square again at the last hole.
