Morison presiding over a fair attendance of shareholders. The- annual report referred to the fact that the past season had established a I'ecord for the company, both in the quantity and value of the -produce. In addition to the cheese sold, l(i cases, worth nearly £9O, had been donated to the Belgian Refugees' Food Fund. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr. W. Morison was elected a delegate to attend the conference re a model dairy farm and to support the scheme, a proposal to turn the scheme down being 'lost. Mr. E. Tackson (President of the A. nnd P. Association) addressed the meeting on Association matters, and it was decided to make a donation of £ls los to the funds. Mr. A. Gray (Director of Technical Education) addressed the meeting on the matter of contributing to the services of an agricultural instructor, and the meeting decided to contribute 6d per ton on the company's output. Messrs Morison, Phillips, and G. F. Styles were re-elected directors, and Mr. ■J. H. Thomas was re-elected auditor. A proposal to join the .South Taranaki Bacon Company was negatived. An amendment was carried that a eommil/lee "oe appointed to report as to whether the Taranaki Farmers' Meat Producing Company would be able to deal with bacon pigs when their new works are established. It was decided to continue the grant tc the Patriotic Fund. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr. W. Morison was re-elected chairman.

GENERAL. The St. Andrew's Ladies' Guild held their animal spring show of flowers in tile Presbyterian schoolroom yesterday There was a good attendance both in the afternoon and evening. Some fine displays of Narcissi were shown. Mr. Kred Davis had a fine stand of Sfi varieties, all well grown; Mrs. Ricva had a nice stand of 12 vases, and other spring flowers, including violets. Mr. Cecil Corkill had a fine collection of SO, including some new varieties. Mrs. \V. Corkill's Hue collection of camelias was really first class, and would have made rjuite an exhibition themselves. Mr. D. Uraham had the best collection in the exhibition. The 30 varieties included some fine specimens of Lord Roberts, Weardale's Perfection. Lucifer and Dante. Mesdames Prentis, Cato, Steven, Eraser, Petrie, Marchant,'A. J. Walters, 0. M. Curtis, and Messrs S. (J. Stanton, P. Thomson, S. J. Ra-wies, and W. 11. Besley also 'had interesting exhibits of spring flowers. Some really fine specimens of anemones were shown by Mrs. D. Henry, ot Tolco, while Mrs. A. l l). W.alker, of Xgaere, had some fine showy rhododendrons. Messrs Duncan & Davics, New Plymouth, had a fine display, showing some of the newest and latest in flowers, shrubs, etc. The hat trimming competition for men caused some great amusement, and after a hard competition Mr. H. Arthur was declared the winner. Altogether the Ladies' "iuild are to 'be congratulated on the success of the exhibition.

The Stratford County Council is getting everything in readiness to start on the tarring of the mum road as soon as the weather is favorable. The tar-boiling plant has already arrived, and will soon be erected on the site near the Climie Road, while this week the tar sprayer was delivered here. It is one of the latest .models, and a trial will be given in a few days. It is intended to start the tarred road from the Waipnku bridge towards Stratford, and after the North Riding is conwleted, a start will be made in the South Riding. Yesterday £401) was sent through Wellington for the relief of the people of Belgium 'by the local Belgian Relief Committee. Mr. 0. A. Curtis, chairman of the committee, gave a handsome donation of £IOO to the fund. The committee intend to make a special appeal to the public on behalf of the starving Belgians. Lieut. Gray, officer in charge of the meal Defence Office, lias received instructions to report at headquarters, having been promoted to the charge of another district in the Wellington military area. Lieut. Gray's transfer will mean a distinct loss to the district, and his many friends will be pleased to hear that the transfer means a decided promotion. Fifteen men h'ave enlisted at the local Defence Office sinee Monday, 'but six failed to pass the medical test.
