MAKING DISLOYAL STATEMENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson. '.September 13. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Ernest Hcineriek, aged 29, a laborer, of Redwood Valley, was charged under the War Regulations Act with making' disloyal statements. The evidence showed that lie told two men who had enlisted that they were fools to fight for their King and country. The cruelty to tfbe women and children in Belgium was not done by the Germans, but by the "mongrels of the Allied forces." Accused was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. THE SHEARERS' DISPUTE.. Masterton, September 13. At a sitting of Hie Conciliation Council to-day the shearers' assessors refused to accept the offer of the Shccpowners' Association of 20s per 100 and a war , bonus of 2s Od. The dispute will now ;go to the Arbitration Court. The shearers demand an award fixing tlie rate at 25s per 100. THE WAY OF THE CHINESE, Wellington, Sept. 14. Mr. Justice Chapman dismissed the appeals of Chan Zee Hop and his wife, who had been fined in the Magistrate's Court, the woman for landing in New Zealand without complying with the regulations, and the man for aiding the woman to do so. The male appellant, who was unnaturaliscd, procured the naturalisation papers of Ah Young, went to Sydney, and married the female appellant. Then he returned to New Zealand under the name of Ah Young, being allowed to land on showing Young's paper.
