EVADING CENSORSHIP.

CULPRIT. SENT TO PRISON* By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, September 12. At the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. H. W. Bishop, Henry W. Reynolds was charged under the censorship regulations with attempting to evade the regulations by enclosing one letter with another. Evidence was given by a member of the censor's staff that he opened a letter addressed to the Town Clerk at Runanga and found a sealed envelope enclosed. Defendant made a statement in which he said the war was a capitalist's war. The Magistrate said evading the censorship was a serious matter. He did not feel inclined to punish Reynolds severely, but every man should be helping the country. He would sentence him to three months' hard labor.
