RUSSIAN ADVANCE , CONTINUES. 4000 PRISONERS TAKEN. London, Sept. 5. • A Russian communique states: During the battle on the upper Sereth, between August 31 and September 2, we took 4GOO prisoners. We continue to advance in the Carpathians, and have captured several more heights. The first encounter between Russian and Bulgarian cavalry occurred on Monday on-the Dobrudja frontier. We repelled attempted Turkish night attacks westward of Erzingan. Fierce battles continue westward of Ognot, and the Turks are hurriedly retreating. We are pressing the enemy in Persia, southwest of Sakkis. GERMANS CLAIM SUCCESS. London. Sept. 5. A German communique states: We repulsed repeated Russian attacks east of Brzezany.
