Mr. M. Fraser, who has been on a visit to Christohurch, returned by the mail train-last 'light. Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., has been appointed a Commissioner, under the Counties Amendment Act, 1013, to an award as bet,vcen the Taranaki County Council and the Moa Road Board. Among the names reported yesterday in the Australian casualty list, is that of iPrivate J. McDonald, wounded (next-of-kin, L. Marsh, Hillsborough, Taranaki). Lieut. R. W. Fisher, who is attached to the N.Z.F.A., 19th Reinforcements, arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train last evening, He expects to return to camp on Wednesday. His Honor Mr. Justice Edwards arrived by the mail train last night to preside ovei the Supreme Court sessions which commence to-day. Mr. M. Myers, of Wellington, arrived in town on Saturday night. He will appear for the defendant Council in tne action for damages, Hilda Simons v. the Taranaki County Council, which is set do.vn for hearing at the Supreme Court. At the Taranaki County Council meeting yesterday, a resolution of sympathy with .Mr. Quilliam, county solicitoi, in the loss of, his son, Laiu-e-Corporal Reg. Quillam, was passed, on the motion of the chairman, leconded by Cr. Binnie. Mr. J. R. L. Stanford, whose marriage to Miss Sylvia Abraham, of Palmerston North, is to take place to-morrow (Wednesday), was the recipient of two presentations on Saturday. The staff of Messrs Spence & Stanford presented him with a handsome wedding present, while the members of the Stratford Club entertained him and made him a suitable presentation. Mr. Stanford left Stratford by the mail train yesterday.
