FATAL MOTOR RACE. Auslralian-N.Z. Cable Association. New York, August 28. A crash occurred in a hundred mile motor race at Kalamaoo, and out ol fourteen competitors eleven cars were -smashed. Two persons were killed and eight seriously injured. The leading car skidded when going at a terrific pace and the others were piled up. WHIITE SLAVERY. New York, August 28. The Public Prosecutor, who is conducting an investigation into white slavery, has begun his inquiry. He reports a millionaire banquet and orgy recently in New York, which lasted 24 hours. A dozen white slaves were hired to entertain the guests, who included prominent personages, one a high city official, MEXICAN TROUBLES. Mexico City, August 2S. Three hundred Villista's captured the town of Satovo after six hours' fight. The garrison, numbering 200, being without ammunition, was forced to evacuate the town. Several VJllista bandits have been executed. INFANTILE PARALYSIS. New York, August 28. Dr. Simon Flexner, director of the Rockfeller Medical Institute, after experiments, is convinced of the value of the treatment of infantile paralysis by a serum from people who have recovered and urges its use by doctors. Theodora Booth, daughter of General Booth, has offered in the interest of se';nce to submit to inoculation with the infantile paralysis virus in order to save babies. TRICE OF WHEAT, Sydney August 20. The Wheat Board ha s increased the price of wheat for export to Africa to 5s ljd, and to the United Kingdom to 5s 3d. SUGAR AWARD. Brisbane, August 29. The trouble over the sugar award 1 has spread to all districts, and growers are threatening not to cut unless granted increase'' nrices to meet the now award.
