LIVE PIGEON SHOOTING.
Sir—The Rev. Colvile's scurrilous letter in this morning'? edition of your paper re the above is in keeping with this gentleman's opinion of all sport of which he does not approve. Will the reverend gentleman tell me which is the cruellest sport, shooting pigeons ir the bush or shooting them as tliey are to be shot next Wednesday ? The birds are given every chance in the latter case, but in the former they are shot at on the brandies. No sportsman is allowed to five at a pigeon next Wednesday unless it is pn the wing I would like to ask Mr. Colville what is the difference between getting money through the gun club for patriotic purposes and getting it by raffles, etc? Also 1 have no doubt in my own mind that each sportsman who is taking part in the slioot next 'Wednesday has given more in proportion to his income to patriotic purposes than those who sit in high places and criticise everything and everybody.—l am, etc., ONE WHO IS SHOOTING NEXT WEDNESDAY, Stratford, August 24.
