PLAY THE GAME!
to the Editor. _ Sir,—l notice that Mr. J. W. 11. Martin, of Pukearnhe, lias written to Mr. Massey offering his services to fight for his King and country; as he evidently thinks the Military Service Act is wrong in not allowing his two sons to stay at home where they are safe. With regard to the responsibilities referred to, I am informed that one of them is helping Mr. Martin on the farm and the other has been walking on another man's farm. . Surely, Mr. Editor, those responsibilities are weak to put forth as an excuse at-the eleventh hour. Why write to the' Prime Minister? Mr. Martin must surely know that lie is not the recruiting ■oliiver for this district, nor is he the man to say, "Don't worry. I will see that your boys will not have to go." I trust that before the clock strikes the hour any man of military age ,will put aside such responsibilities and play the game.—l am, etc., TURXKD-DOWX.
