An inquiry into the death of Skeffington, Mclntyrc, and Dickson has opened in Dublin. lieutenant Moiris gave evidence that an excited crowd followed Skcfflngton, and ho arrested him a a a precautionary measure. Lieutenant Wilson stated that when Skefflngton was brought to barracks with his hands tied behind his back. Captain Colthnrst fired several shots in the air over the crowd, and then shot the boy Corde, who was running away after giving an insulting answer to Colthm-st's questions. He meant to shoot in the legs, but shot in the abdomen. Wilson said he had not mentioned the Corde incident at the court-martial, because he was not asked about it, ALDEIDGE'S "EVIDENCE. Received August 24, 7.10 p.« London, August 2J. bergeant Aldndge in his evidence saifl he was accompanied by seven men on the morning of the shooting by Colt- ™ *• He gave the directions to fire. The men were neither blind-folded nor pinioned and given no time to say their prayers. They did not think they were going to their death and did not make any protest. The Attorney-General fn opening the ease said that Colthurst ordered his men to remove their nats, and then delivered a short prayer, in Skeffington's presence: "01 Lord God, if it pleases thee, to take away the life of this man, forgive him!" He then ordered th* men out to be shot.
