The country is anxiously awaiting some indication a3 to Mr. Hughes' intentions regarding conscription. An enormous crowd attended liia public reception xt the Town Hall, expecting some reference thereto. Mr. Hughes guardedly avoided the subject, but in the course o! his speech he said he believed that wherever the light leads us now, every free citizen, will follow, no matter what comes or goes. SOLDIERS NOT TO BE OPPOSED. Sydney, August 21. The Government lias decided not to oppose soldiers on active service at the next elections.
