The enemy occupied Greek forts in the Lise and Starcista regkm, on the Struma. Our Are held up the Bulgar attacks westward of the Struma. The English repulsed Bulgar attacks at Dodzeli. There is a cannonade on the west bank of the Vardar, notably at Majadag, and fighting south of Monastir, p wh»* the Serbian advance guards are engaging the Bulgars on the outskirts of Banaca, Salonika, August 20. The Bulgars returned to the attack and drove the Frerich out of Dodzeli. The French were reinforced and *- sttacked with vigor end recaptured the village. Fierce local-fighting continues, Dodzeli several times changing hands. Bix Bulgar battalion: attacked the Mogienika Valley and the Serbs repulsed ttein. London, August 20. Mr. Ward Price, writing on the 18th, say*: "The yesterday commenced an offensive on the whole Serbian front. In the Moglen sector six bati,talions mad© furious attacks with the (Object of recapturing the positions lost fn July, but were everywhere repulsed \rith enormous losses, except at Fiorina, ■where only Serbian outposts occupied the town and station. South of Demirhissar, patrols iroesed the Struma and exchanged shots with our cavalry at Lissa and Starcista. The Bulgars ordered the Greeks to withdraw . their defending guns, and they obeyed, the Bulgars occupying both places. 'A Bulgarian official report states: Our offensive was necessary to forestall 'General Sarrail. It becomes necessary to 'fight on Greek territory, and Bulgaria expects Greece to give their army the same freedom of action as to the Entente at Salonika. It appears the Bulgarians have advanced in force from Monastir and occupied the town and station of Fiorina: There was no difficulty, because they were opposed by only a battalion of Serlians, which withdrew. The Bulgarians, before occupying Risestarasta, sent a message to the Greek commanders requesting the withdrawal of the Gro»)u, which was complied with. BAYONETS AND BOMBS.
