Probably the most difficult nnd intricate, yet one of the most important Acts from the point of view of laymen ever placed on the Statute Book of the Dominion is "The Finance Act, 1910." This Act sets out in legal language the rates of tax by way of ordinary Land Tax, Graduated Land Tax and Income Tax, in addition to a large number of complicated sections dealing with excess profits. Business men. and others, and particularly farmers, will be glad to learn that a most useful and necessary handbook dealing simply and fully w, ; t'h ''The Finance Act, lftHi," and ■'The. laikl and Income Tax, 1!)1U," is now in the hands of the printers, and will be available in a few days. This simple and practical guide is being issued by Hemingway and Robertson's well-known Law, Accountancy and Book-keeping Correspondence Schools, and 'has been compiled by Mr. W. H. 'Hemingway, .F.P.A. (X.Z.), a solicitor of Auckland. Mr, Hemingway formed one of the deputation on behalf of the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants which waited upon the Minister of Finance last month, and which was largely instrumental in getting a number of modifications nnd improvements inserted in the Bill, as well as one or two clauses which business men considered inimical to their interests deleted. Those desirous of obtaining the work should send their name and address, together with the cost, 5s (in stamps or postal note) to Hemingway arid Piobertson, Union Buildings, Auckland. The work will then be post paid, immediately it is out of the printer's hands.
