STRONG ENTRENCHMENTS PIERCED. j AUSTRIANS EVERYWHERE I ■ REPULSED London, August 14. An Italian communique says:—We continue to press tlie enemy on the Carso. We pierced another strong line of entrenchments. There are artillery duels at Gorizia, and the Austrians are shelling the town and bridges over the Isnnzo. There have been short, .(harp encounters elsewhere-; we repulsed the Austrian? everywhere. Aviators bombed Monfalcone and other places, but causisd no casualties nor damage. AN IMPORTANT CAPTURE. DOMINATING POINTS SECURED. deceived August 15, 10.10 p.m. London, August 15. . The Daily Mail's Milan correspondent states that the capture, of Madlogeni secures one of the principal defences at northern entrance of tlio Carso. The' Italians now dominate the Vertoilizzu. lines and the neighboring slopes and threaten Mount San Marc. The iatter is a strong defence point south-east of Gorizia. AUSTRIAN LEFT WING London, August 14. A wireless message from Rome says that the Austrian left wing is losing contact with the Adriatic, presumably owing to an Italian turning movement from Monfalcone. The news is not confirmed.
