WAR LOAN FROM BRITAIN. CLOSER CO-OPERATION DESIRED. Received August 9, 8.15 p.m. Lisbon, August 9. The Finance Minister has announced that Great Britain is advancing loans for war purposes, repayable within two years after the war. The Foreign Minister stated that Great Britain has • invited Portugal's closer co-operation in the war when she is able to assist. Consultations are progressing with a view thereto. . ' PRO-ALLIES SYMPATHY. Lisbon, August 8. At an extraordinary session of Congress, Signor Costa, Minister of Finance, Loans and Foreign Affairs, narrated the results of the visit to London from which he had just returned. The Premier, in a speech, eulogised the Allies and spoke in favor of Portuguese participation in the war. A resolution was adopted approving what the Ministers had done.
