THE MINISTERIAL VISIT TO ENGLAND.
(By Our Special Correspondent.)' Wellington, August 8,
The date of the departure of th« T-riine Minister and Sir Joseph Ward for London lias been fixed, But no public announcement will be made on the subject. The Imperial authorities are firmly of opinion that the movements of Dominion Ministers on the seas had better not be advertised while enemy submarines are still at large, and the precautions re-commended in London must be taken even when they.seem a trifle far-fetehed. It will be remembered that when Mr. Hughes left Australia for London some months ago, elaborate measures were taken to mislead the general public as to his movements. He departed from Sydney by train, ostensibly for Adelaide, thence to proceed to England via Sue/; but the train dropped him at a station outside Sydney, and he joined the Vancouver steamer. Even his conference with Mr. Massey in Auckland was "kept dark" a 6 the time.
