MOTOR CAB RAFFLE. SMART ROAD RESIDENT SUCCESSFUL. The raffle for a Studebalcer motor-en?! •presented by Mr. King', of Xew (Plymouth, and conducted by the Xew Plymouth and Stratford Patriotic Societies, in aid of the fund for wounded soldiprs and their dependents, was drawn at the Town Hall last night, in the presence of Mr. E. Wilson, chairman of the Xew Plymouth Patriotic Committee,, thft Mayor (Mr. C, H. Burgess), the police representatives, and a fair gathering of the public. Prior to the drawing, Mr. Wilson ex* plained that there had been some delaj) owing to the recent unfortunate fire, but everything had been checked and was in order. The tickets sold numbered 7092 (4352 at the New Plymouth end and 2740 at Stratford), realising £BBB 10s. Against this were the following expenses; Advertising £l9 lis, printing £7 2a Id, postages and petty disbursements £(l 12s, or a total of £33 5s Id. A little extra expense would'be incurred in advertising the result of the but a net sum of £BSO was assured.

The ballot was proceeded with in thd customary manner, 'his Wofship thej Mayor being appointed to draw the fateful ticket. The first one drawn was No. (548 ft, which,_upon investigation, was proved to be "a blank," the ticket beaming that number not having been sold.
