J STRONG FEELING IN ;SWEDEN. VIOLATION OF NEUTRALITY LAWS. EXTENSION OF TIME REFUSED. *N IMPUDENT ACTION Stockholm. August 7. The Germans captured the Swedish steamer Themis, and impudently put into 'lie Swedish port of Slite in order to rcoal, and now insist on permission to lint the harbor and threaten otherwise to blow up the steamer. Swedish .warships have been dispatched. Received August 8, 9,55 p.m. London, August 8. The Morning Post's Stockholm correspondent states that the Themis affair !ls somewhat critical. There is strong feeling in Sweden. The Government tiedares that as the twenty-four hours have expired the Themis is no longer a prize, and refuses extension of time. Two Zeppelins and German patrol ships are waiting off Slite. The Swedish press is unanimous that the havoc of the German raiders constitutes an unprecedented violation of the neutrality laws. Diplomatic negotiations are proceeding. ANOTHER VICTIM INCENDIARY SHELLS USED. Received August S, 7.10 p.m. • Genoa, August S. There are eighteen survivors of the (Mena, which was bombarded by a submarine carrying the Austrian flag. The incendiary shells started a fire. Six poats were lowered, three being smashed. The others are missing. The papers'are indignant at the callous neutrals for not protesting at the '■mirages. SUBMARINE CHASE New York, August 7. A .submarine sighted off the coast near Portland. Maine, is believed to be either the Deutschland or the Bremen. It is understood that British warships intend' to follow the Deutschland across the Atlantic and capture her on the other side.
