PERSONAL.

Mr. H. E. Crust, late of New Plymouth, is on a short holiday visit to New Plymouth. In yesterday's casualty list appeared the name of Private Percy C. Short (J. G. Short, Kaupokonui, brother), wound«d, embarked for England. The many friends of Mr. M. ,1. Brennan will be pleased to learn that lie has recovered from his recent illness and has returned to Opunake. He is looking remarkably well and bright, and hai been the recipient of numerous congratulations on liis recovery.

A pleasing function took place at Kaimata on Monday night, when at a social gathering, held at the conclusion of the ireetitig of the suppliers of the Kaimata Dairy Company, a presentation was made to Mr. C. E. Dobson, a pioneer of the district and' former chairman of the company, who has recently left the district and taken tip his residence in Xew Plymouth. Mr. Geo. Capper, chairman, made the presentation, which consisted of a travelling bag and umbrella. The chairman spoke in high terms of the valuable services rendered to the district by Mr. Dobson, whose reputation for honesty and integrity was recognised throughout the district. Messrs. C. Old, W. E. Percival and T. E. Haraerton endorsed the chairman's remarks. Mr. Jas Dobson, who took charge of the prosentaion in the absence of his father, suitably replied.
