PATRIOTIC SOCIETIES' CONFERENCE.

REMITS DEALT WITH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 3. At the annual conference of the Federation of Patriotic Relief Societies the following remits from Wairarapa were referred to the Advisory Board:-—That a copy of the medical and other reports which were placed before the Pensions Board when they decided on a man's pension, should be available to the secretary of the patriotic society in any special case the society is enquiring into, such documents to be treated as strictly confidential; That as a further means to prevent exploitation of war relief funds all officers of societies empowered to grant relief to returned soldiers endorse on the soldier's pay-book the name of the society granting relief and the date of grant, and that no relief be granted without the production of a oischarge. The conference affirmed the principle of the Wellington remit—That the Government pay the insurance premiums, up to £s(l per annum, on policies taken out by soldiers, and it was referred to the Advisory Board. The Hon. J T. Paul was re-elected chairman; Mr. L. O. H. Trip, vice-chair-man; and Mr. W. 'P. Kirkwood appointed delegate for Taranaki in place of Mr J. ¥.. Wilson. The other delegates were all re-elected.
