DISTRICT NEWS.
OKATO. (From Our Own Correspondent). The annual general meeting of the Hem-pton Hall Committee was held on Saturday, July 29, when the report on the year's working was read to a rather meagre attendance. The total receipts were £43 14s and the expenditure £39 3s Sd, leaving a useful cash balance to commence the new year with. The committee are indebted to Mr. J. S. Fox for a gift of crockery, to Mr. R. F. Roebuck for spoons, and Messrs W. Clark, W. C'orbett and A. Roebuck for milk. They tender thanks to the ladies for assistance readily given in connection with farewell and hall benefit socials. There are a few necessary repairs to be effected, and the committee hope to have the liberal support of the district iu order to raise funds' for same
