Mr. Orefley Lukin, editor of the Wellington Kvoniii"; Post, if lving, seriously ill. A cable message from London reports t'mt Lieut. J. \V. Gorrie, ot the Worcestershires, and son of Mr. H. T. Qorvie, of Auckland, and a well-known polo player, has been killed in France. On Saturday afternoon, at Mr. New. ton King's machinery show-rooms, Mr. J. •Toli, who is shortly to be married, was presented by Mr. Frank Modre on behalf of the staff of that department,, with a case of cutlery and a silver-'/ mounted thermos flask. A Sydney message states that a cable of sympathy, forwarded on th« reported death of Stanley Wootton, brought a reply frani his "father that he cannot understand the cable, as Stanley has been awarded the Military Cross, and is at home convalescent. Amongst the latest list of wounded appears the name of Sergeant E. V. Law. Sergeant Law is a son of Mrs. Law (late of Stratford), and hal.*brother to Chaplain-Captain Sullivan. Sergeant Law belonged to the Main Body, and enlisted as a private. He was amongst the first New Zealanders to land at Gallipoli, where he was wounded. When lie recovered he went back to fiallipoli, and was amongst' the* last to leave there. Mr. .lames I'reslon, whose death was recorded on Thursday was a Maor war veteran, who served for several years in the field. He was very well known . throughout T'arauaUi, having taken up lam 1 near Eltliam in 1 SSI. He leave* a family of seven daughters and two sons. Tiie daughters are Mrs. H.
