DISTRICT NEWS.
KAIIOTU. (From a Correspondent). 'Private Gibson, son of Mr. George Gibson, of Oaonui, killed in action in France, was a sergeant in the cadets, not the Territorials, as previously stated, and as sueh was at New Plymouth when the cadets were inspected oy Sir lan Hamilton. He was onlj 20 years of age last February, and had only been in one Territorial training camp previous to joining the .Eleventh Reinforcements, which he did as a trooper of the Wellington and West Coast Mounted Rifles, and in common with the other mounted men of the Eleventh Reinforcements, volunteered to serve in any capacity or in any plsrce .the authorities wished. His brother, E. JVI. Gibson, holds the Lady Islington Cup as best shot in tl?e 101st Company of cadets (Opunake).
