''l regret to say," said the Prime Minister in the House on Wednesday night, "that one of the members of this House who had signified to me his intention of offering his services and of again serving his King and country, as he did in the Boer war, is now lying dangerously ill. I refer, of course, to the member for Pahiatua, Mr. Eseott."
As a mark of their appreciation of the kindly interest taken by Mr. Whetter in the teachers and pupils of the Convent Schools in this district, the Sisters of the New Plymouth, WaiUra, Inglewood and Stratford Convents have presented Mr. and Mrs. Whetter with a beautifully worked point lace tablecloth, together with a rug and a silvermounted umbrella. In returning thanks Mr. Whetter eulogised the work of the Sisters and the interest displayed in the pupils.
