The Hastings Tribune has the follow in» notice with regard to the death of l.ietitentnt Kenneth Mnnro:—"With th» death upon the field in far-away France of Uent. Kenneth Jlimro, the country lias lost one more of its invaluable young lives, just when the good promise of fruition was on the eve of fulfilment. Born at Patea twenty-four year ago, and educated at Kelson College, where his native qualities gained him the postlion .of head prefect, he chose the law as a profession, pursued his studies a(j Victoria College, and had all hut completed his qualification for admission to practice. From boyhood he had taken a keen interest in military matters, hia, first training as a soldier being- in the school cadet corps, in which Tie gained ai commission, and this being followed byj an enthusiastic, membership of the Vie-< toria College Corps. Kntoring the office! of a born soldier, Colonel Malone, of Stratford, he then became attached toi the 11th Territorial Regiment, Taranaki Rilles. With the ball of his civilian am-, bitions at his feet, he yet quickly rccog-. nised the Empire's call, end, risking all, volunteered for service, ultimately going to Kg.vpt and (billipoli as a member of the 4tii Ueinforcemonts. Under the command of his old employer, who himself died gloriously on the 'field, the beloved of all his men, he took pait in the Gallic poli campaign, including the main attack in August.
