Word wa.s received by Mr. Pepperell. of Vogoltown, last night that his son Laurie had been killed in action. The deceased soldier was one of the original members of the Vogeltown Boy Scouts.

Private Alfred Lee Dixon, who was killed in action on July 3, was the son of Mrs. 11. Dixon, Whangnrei, and resided in Xew 'Plymouth until seven years ago. He entered the Borough Council ollice here as a cadet, and after a few years was appointed town clerk at Whangavoi. whore he resided until 'he volunteered for service abroad. Private Dixon wns one of the most popular men wherever he went, and the deepest sympathy will be felt for his bereaved mother.
