WELLINGTON TRAGEDY.
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. By Telegraph.—i'ress Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Erne>t. Devoin was e<,:iimittcd for trial on a charge of murde;, as a sequel to the [ death of Louisa White, who died as the result of a wound from a revolver allegedly fired by Devoin 011 the night of March 27, in Nairn Street, Reserve. Devoin and White were to have been married in a few days, and went for a walk in the reserve. While they were there, shots were heard, and the woman found badly 'wounded in the spine. Devoin was also injured in the temple, having attempted suicide. Devoin was previously charged with attempted murder, hut the woman was so critically ill then that the trial was adjourned, in view of the possibility of a more serious charge. The evidence disclosed that TJevoin already had a wile living,
