INFANTILE PARALYSIS EPIDEMIC. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright London, July IC. Mr. Rockefeller has donated 50,000 dollars to fight infantile paralysis. The epidemic is unabated, there haviag been 100 deaths already this month. WEEDING OUT CRIMINALS. New York, July IG. A great raid, designed to clear the city of criminals, took place at Philadelphia to-day. Nine hundred arrests were made. The charges range from drug selling to highway robbery. The round-up was carefully planned and cleverly carried out. The majority of the arrests wer made in the tenderloin district. After the police stations overflowed the prisoners were taken to public halls. More arrests are being made. The raid is the sequel to house and highway robberies, and a wave of crime. A DETERMINED SUICIDE. New York, July 16. Paul Smith, manager of the Chalmers Motor Company, had a nervous breakdown and committed suicide by jumping from the thirteenth story of a hotel. The company had just completed a million pounds' worth of cars. AEROPLANE SERVICE. New York, July 18. The Aero Club is establishing a daily business aeroplane service between Manhattan Island and the city. CINEMA FILMS CENSORSHIP. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Melbourne, July 17.
