THE CHEESE PROBLEM.
POSITION STILL UNSETTLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 15. Keen interest was taken by members in the deputation of 30 dairy factory representatives to the Premier to-day. The spokesman was Mr. Morton, chairman of the National Dairy Association. The Premier had been confined to his residence since Friday, and this was, his first public business since then. He immediately returned home. His appearance under the circumstances indicates the importance of the deputation. The speakers represented that when the Government commandeered one-third', of last season's output at T/ 4 d in tlie pound, the remaining output secured an average price of !%d, and the deputa-' tion submitted that it would be unfair to take the whole output at last season's ! official price. The Premier's reply does not give much assurance, but the matter rests finally with the Imperial authorities, the suggestion being raised that ;nsistence on the highest figure would result in the withdrawal of the Imperial offer and consequent difficulty of shipping produce Home. However, the position is a long way from finality, last year's arrangement not having been made till Octeber.—Hawera Star.
