• Mr. .f. N. Harvcv, of the Kaupokonui Dairy Company, has been appointed manager of the Pallia Dairy Factory. Mr. Cordon Svkes, of New Plymouth, has received word that he has passed the Pharmacy Hoard examinations. Sir Robert -Ho Tung, one of Britain's most recent knights, who has presented a £ISOO biplane to the Imperial aircraft flotilla, is of Chinese birth, and owns much property in Hongkong.
The casualty lists of New Zealandcrs with the. Imperial forces include the names of two brothers, Lieut. H. L. Fitzherbert, killed in action, and Lieut. W. W. Fitzherbert, wounded, both on June .'HI Their nf xt-of-kin is Fenton Latham, of College street. Wanganui. Lieut.-Col-oi:el Bernard Fitzherbert, of Wellington, also been reported wounded again.
Mr. David Nairn died at his residence in Christchurch on Friday night, aged 82. Deceased, who was a well-known seedsman, came to the Dominion in 1805 from Fifeshire, and took up horticulture, later establishing the business which is known throughout New Zealand. He look an active part for a time in the public all'airs of his province, though in later lil'e he severed his connection with tbo active side, keeping up a lively interest in the welfare of his district.
Farmers 011 tliis coast will be sorry to learn that Mr. R. MorrWsey lias resigned his position willi the New Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Co.. Ltd. (says the 11awera Star). In South Taranaki there are very few people better or more favorably known than "Bob'' Morrissey. Settlers from one end of this coast to the other will be sorry that he is shortly to cease his association with the stock and auctioneering business of the N.Z.L. and M.A. Co. in the conduct of sales ,\lr. Morrissey had a style quite hi-s own; hi s work was always smart and decisive, with a vein of humor and brightness running through it, such as counts for not a little 011 such occasions. He has been unusually popular with farmers, who have not been slow to recognise not only hi s business ability, but uniformly tactful disposition and good nature. -Mr. jMorri.-sey joined the firm of Messrs ! Nolan, Tonks and Co. twenty years ago as an ollice boy; he was next appointed accountant, and when the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. took over the business he continued with the new firm, and has, for the last seven years, oiliciated as their auctioneer.
