STRATFORD.
(From our own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. The "Anzac Minstrels" gave a performance at Cardiff last evening in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The hall was crowded, and the performance went without a hitch, being voted one of the best entertainments that has ever been held in that district. On Saturday evening the minstrels are showing at Tariki, when they will no doubt be received with a full bouse News of the death of Private R. Marrctt, which took place in France, was received with regret by those who knew him. Prior tr enlisting he was with Messrs Bellringer Bros.' Stratford branch, and was well liked by all with whom he came in contact. Private P. Butler, who died at Trentham, will be buried at the Stratford cemetery on Friday afternoon next. The funeral will be a military one, and the local Defence Office have the arrangements in hand. Tlie action of theatrical companies in selling more tickets than the available seats will accommodate, came under discussion at the last Borough Council meeting, when Cr. Hunter referred to the practice of these companies enlarging tlie orchestra stalls area, and reducing the stall seats, with the result that tlie public either had to pay for higher priced seats, or stand up. As the Council owned the hall, he thought some action should be taken to safeguard patrons. It was decided to refer the matter to the Town Hall Committee to report upon at the next Council meeting. 'the Stratford Dairy Company hold their annual meeting of shareholders on Monday, July 31st.
