PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
MR. R. J. LINN'S DISPERSAL SALE. SOME FIXE PKICES. I''ui' the past thirteen years llr. I'.. J. ■ Linn, or Noruiauby, has spared neither trouble nor expense in establishing a herd of pedigree .Jerseys at his widelyknown "Mountain View" farm. Many of tlie tows had great semi-ulliuial test records, and the herd Jiad also secured 25 championships. 7 reserves, 4 cups, 20 medals, 120 firsts, 05 seconds, and 37 thirds—a formidable record. The dispersal of such a valuable herd, rendered necessary on account of the enlistment of three of Mr. Linn's sons, naturally attracted a very large attendance, anil the spirited bidding resulted in the whole of the lIS lots being disposed of at very satisfactory prices, the total realised being over 5200 guineas, while the average was over 44 guineas. Buyers were present from all parts of the North Island, and even the South Island was represented. The highest price given was for a nine-year-old cow, Little Vio let, which passed to Dr. Watson, of Palmerston, at liiOgns. Among the aged bulk, the old champion Lord Twylish brought top price, and a yearling son, Twylish Junr., out of Belvedere Rose, also reached top price. The sale was conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Mr. Newton King. The arrangements were excellent, ample seating accommodation was provided for bidders, and though the weather was threatening:, the rain fortunately held oh". Mr. R. J. Morrlscy (Loan and Mercantile) opened the sale, being followed by Messrs 8. Shaw and R. Cottier (Newton King). The sale was conducted so expeditiously that even though ample time was allowed for the luncheon provided, the big catalogue was completed early. The following are the details:—r COWS.
