■» SPECIAL SERVICE. MEMORIALS UNVEILED. The service at St. Mary's Church yesterday inoniinj; was one which will live long in tin- memories of those who were privileged to be present. The occasion was the iinvi'iliii!: of two memorial windows in the chapel to the memory of the late Clement William (iovrtt, and si brass tablet in the .nun-rut to the memory of Hie late Archdeacon (Jovott. The psa'lms. lessons, and hymns were all specially chosen and appropriate for the ocea.sion, at the conclu.-ioii of which the ecreinonj of imvi'iliii.L' look place. Special prayer's of dedication were read bv Hie vicar, liter which Mrs. Evan* unveiled the windows to the memory of her late brother, and the tablet to her father. The vicar took his text from Hebrews XI.. vciv !(). 'Revised Version" (Koi He looked for the city which had the foundations, whose builder and maker is Cod), and preaclied a most impressive, inspiring and eloquent sermon, contrasting the influence of material tilings as opposed to spiiriiiak He instanced the work of those who, in the past, had done so much to build up and beautify St. Mary's Church, the latter possessing an iniluenee of its oivn, quite apart from liny preacher or service, which made itself 'felt in the. lives of the citizens of N'ew Plymouth. The windows, whicli lircatU add to the appearance of (he church, are the work of Messrs. Willis and Jones, of Loudon; the subjects heinj: "Christ blessing little children," and "Mary, Martha, and our Lord." The brass'memorial tablet in the transept to the memory of Archru aeon Covell. bears the following in- . scription: "The traiiM'pi and chapel lire | erected to the filurv of Uort. and in mem. j ory of Henry (love'tt, 8.A., '."ill years vicar J of this parish, and first Archdeacon of ■ Taranaki." I
