The following are the leading items of the aggregate figures in the returns of the six banks trading in New Zealand for the April-June quarter: Free deposits £20,542,748; fixed deposits, £12,019,138; Government deposits, £5,301,55!); advances, £22,015,021; discounts, £1,352,715; coin and bullion, £7,308,252; note circulation, £3,018,334. A year ago the aggregate liabilities of the six banks amounted to £31,718,070, exceeding the assets (£32.000,003), by £1,817,371. For the quarter just ended 'he assets totalled £35,470,540 and liabilities £42,015,023, showing a balance against the former of £7,145,377.
