TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

, MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held yesterday. Present: Mr G. H. Billiard (Commissioner), in the chair, and Messrs C. J. Ryan, ,Tas. Heslop rind J. W. Martin. An application for section 22, block 1, Aria S.D., 7 acres 2r. 12p., by A. Barnes, was approved. APPLICATIONS FOR FEE SIMPLE. The following applications for the freehold were approved:—James Brown, section 13, block 10. Oliura; Geo. Loveday, section 3, block 11, Oliura; John Austin, section 2, block 2, Oliura; Geo. Loveday, section 4, block 10, Ohura; H. C. Loveday, section 5, block 3, Ohura; Hugh Brown, section 8, block 3, Ohura; Taranaki Education Board, section 50, block 10, Xgatimaru. DEFAULTERS.

It was resolved to re-enter and determine the' leases of parts sections 1689, 1751, 1639, IC6I and 1594-5, New Plymouth. '

E. P. Gould and N. H. Arden, section 3 block 8, Omona, were granted exemption from residence.

Section 1, etc., block 3, town of Huiroa, was forfeited for non-payment of rent.

C. Perkins, bolder of sections 3 and 10, block 4. Opaku, was granted six months in which to reside. J. P. B. Jacobs, section 9. block 11, Mahoe, was granted 12 months in which to effect improvements. Section 42, Urenui township, 1 rood, was forfeited for na.n-payment of rent. C. Mclvor, section 7, block 10, Aria, was granted 12 months in which to effect 'mprovements. TRANSFERS.

The following transfers wre recommended for approval:—Section 7, block 5, Huiroa, H. J Sharroek to H. J. Sharroek and E. W. Sharroek; part section 5, block 4, Mapara, C. A. Miller to T. A. Sanders; section 8, block 13, Ohura, 0. Beaton to C. C. Loveday; section 3, block 3, Totoro, John Bones to John Monk; section 10, block 9, Kapara, P. Hirst to G. E. Rusling; section 7, block 4, Ohura, E. A. McGovern to J. P. McGovern; section Hi, block 13, Ohura, 11. J. Dougherty to S. A. Bell; section 8, block 5, Mahoe, M. Geever to C. McGuinn; section 9, block 15, Aria, J. W. Lawson to D. Beaton; section 11, block !), Pouatu, A. McCutchan to G. R. Morine; section 2, block 4, Rangi, A. A. and J. P Bowman to Arch, and J. The Board decided to adhere to its previous resolution refusing the application of the Public Trustee to transfer sections 6 and 7, block "2, Omona, to G. H. Steele.

'MISCELLANEOUS. It waß resolved to re-offer on renewable lease section 6, block 5, Pouatu, at •22s Gd per acre. The proposals of the Patea County Council, Wairoa Road Board, Motoroa Road Board and Waitomo County Council for expenditure of accrued thirds were approved conditionally. Twelve months' leave of absence was granted to C. W. B. de Malmanche, lessee of R.L. section 6, block 5, Tangitu; ft. W. Murray, lessee of R.L. section 2, block 5, Pouatu; T. Havard, lessee of O.R.'P. section 4, block 8, Mapara; L. F. •T. Gamson, leasee of O.R.P. section 6, block 2, Totoro; C. Ncilsen, lessee of R.L. section 3, block 7, Ileao; 0. B. Law, lessee of R.L. section 1, block 7, Hoao; and H. Tlucklc, lessee of O.R.P. section 2, block 3, Piopiotea West, all of whom had enlisted for active service.

H. X. Maddox, lessee of O.R.P. section 1, block 4, Piopiotoa West, applied for exemption from residence for three years. —lt was resolved to inform lessee that personal residence would be required before February, 1918. The Board, in committee, considered 3D applications received from members of the Expeditionary Forces for rental remission under section 22 of t)ie 1915 Act.
